ModGarage: frequently asked questions
Short, direct answers about the AI car mod app.
What is ModGarage?
ModGarage is an iPhone app that modifies a photo of your own car with AI using 13 styles and 10 part categories. Each car has a vehicle profile, every build gets a numbered build sheet, and builds of the same car can be compared with a parts diff.
Is ModGarage free?
The download is free and there are no ads, but generating builds requires ModGarage Premium; there are no free generations. Premium is weekly or yearly with a daily generation allowance shown in the app, and has no free trial. In the US it is $8.00 a week or $57.90 a year; the App Store shows your local price.
What happens to my car photo?
Your photos are stored on your iPhone and, if iCloud is on, in your private iCloud. When you tap Modify, the selected photo, any part photos you added and a text description of your choices and vehicle profile are sent to the AI provider fal.ai to make the image; the app can also route generation through kie.ai, which deletes uploaded files after about a day. Save in HD sends the build to fal.ai for upscaling. ModGarage has no image servers of its own and keeps no copies. Details: privacy policy.
Does the result still look like my car?
That is the goal: with the vehicle profile filled in, the app tells the AI the year, make, model, trim and factory color and asks it to keep the body shape, panel lines and light design. AI results can still vary, so treat a build as an illustration.
Which styles are there?
There are 13: JDM, Muscle, Euro Stance, Drift, Rally, Off-road, VIP, Track, Widebody, Lowrider, Restomod, Cyberpunk and Clean. Discover also has 12 ready-made recipes such as Tokyo Night, Track Day and Stealth.
Which parts can I change?
Ten categories with 105 options: paint (color, finish, wrap), wheels (style, color, size, tires), stance, aero, spoiler, window tint, lights (including underglow color), exhaust tips, accessories and scene. You can also add a photo of a real part.
What is a build sheet?
A build sheet is a card for each build with its number, your car's year, make and model, a mod-level tachometer and every part grouped by area. You can share it as an image or as text, or save it to Photos.
Can I compare two builds?
Yes. Compare Builds shows two builds of the same car under one slider or side by side, plus a parts diff of what only build A has, what only build B has and what both share.
How many builds can I make?
Premium includes a daily generation allowance, shown in the app. Build On counts as a new generation; Save in HD does not. Without a subscription you can add cars and plan parts, but not generate builds.
Does ModGarage need internet?
Yes, to generate builds and save in HD. Your garage, vehicle profiles and past builds are on your iPhone and open without a connection.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Cars, photos and builds sync across your devices through your own iCloud.
Does ModGarage check if parts fit my car?
No. The builds are AI illustrations, not fitment advice, and ModGarage does not sell parts. Check fitment, sizes and local rules with a shop before buying.
Is ModGarage available on Android or iPad?
No. ModGarage is an iPhone app (iOS 17 or later).
When will ModGarage be on the App Store?
ModGarage is coming soon to the App Store. This site will link to it as soon as it is live.
